Tenants and residents from across the borough are being urged to ‘home’ in on Wigan Investment Centre for their annual get together.
Wigan and Leigh Housing (WALH) will be hosting its annual Tenants’ Conference at the Investment Centre on Thursday September 9th.
The ever popular event gives tenants and residents the chance to quiz housing chiefs, hear about the progress of WALH throughout the year, to give suggestion on how services can be improved and hopefully have a good time as well.
Last year’s event saw more than 120 people converge on the conference so organisers are urging anyone interested to book their place now to avoid disappointment.
This year will also see Douglas Valley Community and WALH construction and repairs contractor Mears Ltd playing an active role in the day’s proceedings.
There will be a presentation from WALH’s Tenant Auditor Group — which checks the organisation is delivering acceptable services. There will also be the opportunity to hear about and celebrate some of WALH’s success stories. This year the organisation became the first Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) to win both the national Investor In People award and the coveted Chartermark for customer service.
Wigan Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for housing, Cllr Chris Ready, said:
“The day promises to be both informative and fun. WALH will update residents on the work it has undertaken during the year and tell more about its plans for the year ahead.
“But most importantly it is chance for the residents to have their say. At WALH we believe in working in partnership and we know many of our residents have plenty of good ideas on how we could improve our services, so we want to hear from you.”
The conference runs from 9.30am until 3.15pm on Thursday September 9th and includes a buffet lunch. Transport can be provided on request. For more information or to book a place contact WALH’s Tenant Participation Team on (0800) 3897652.
