Young people in Worsley Mesnes are joining forces with the area's neighbourhood wardens to help improve their estate.

14 ‘junior wardens’ have been chosen to work with Wigan & Leigh Housing's four senior wardens, who act as the eyes and ears of the community and promote community engagement. Each 'junior warden' will be trained up and kitted out with distinctive tee-shirt and baseball cap, and receive a pack containing ID card and torch.

Neighbourhood warden Terry O'Mara said:

“The junior wardens will be working with us to make life better on the Worsley Mesnes North estate. Each one of them will have a pencil and notepad so they can make note of any problems on the estate and our community beat officer, Kevin Oakes, is providing free tickets to Latics and Warriors games, as well as other treats, to reward our young helpers.”
