Shiny, Happy People

The borough’s council tenants are happy and getting happier!

A Wigan & Leigh Housing survey reveals that most of the council’s 25,000 tenants are, on the whole, very satisfied with their homes and the services they receive. And, the number of satisfied people has increased since the last survey carried out three years ago.

Last autumn, nearly 9,000 people responded when Wigan & Leigh Housing asked tenants what they thought of their homes and housing services. Overall satisfaction with the housing service is up from 79% to 83%, with respondents saying that staff were helpful and able to answer questions. Most people (86%) were satisfied with their homes and felt that properties were the right size and in good condition. Four fifths of people were happy with their neighbourhoods, though concerns were expressed about things like litter, vandalism, crime and dog fouling.

Peter Gee, Chief Executive of Wigan & Leigh Housing said:

“We are delighted with the size of the response and pleased that our customers are more satisfied now than when they were last asked. The results show that services are improving and we now have a wealth of information to help us get better still.”
