Hare today, gone tomorrow

A council tenant from Wigan has been evicted from his home following convictions for drug dealing and possessing an illegal weapon.

28 year old Lee Hare of 11, Hampden Place, Marsh Green, was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court last September, paving the way for landlord Wigan & Leigh Housing to begin its own proceedings.

Wigan County Court granted an outright possession order on 31st January, with Mr Hare being evicted last Sunday (12th February).

Peter Gee, Chief Executive of Wigan & Leigh Housing says:

"The criminal activities going on at 11 Hampden Place were causing problems in Marsh Green and beyond. Like the police, we've shown that we are not prepared to tolerate it.

"Our tenancy relations team worked very closely with the police in this case, and we will continue to work with all our community safety partners to make our estates safe and secure. Legal action is not an idle threat."
